I began the week with an in-depth lecture on the importance of packaging in the food processing industry. I covered the various functions of packaging, including protection, preservation, convenience, and communication. We discussed different types of packaging materials such as glass, metal, plastics, and paper, emphasizing their respective advantages and disadvantages.
In the latter part of the week, I introduced the basics of wine production. The lecture covered the history of winemaking, different types of wines (red, white, rosé, sparkling, and fortified), and the key processes involved in wine production, including fermentation and aging.
Student participation was excellent during the lectures and discussions. Many students showed a keen interest in sustainable packaging and asked insightful questions about alternative materials.
