From the Fairies
The Flicker That Teaches
We do not build groves.
We dance between them.
We do not teach in stones or circles,
but in misplaced objects,
sudden laughter,
and the pull to go left instead of right.
Our philosophy cannot be followed.
It must be chased—
and even then,
only caught if you forget you are trying.
We are the guardians of the Unexpected.
The slip, the spark,
the sneeze at the wrong time that opens a new doorway.
Beware the desire to always understand.
That is how magic escapes.
If you would study with us,
lose your way.
If you would join our school,
wear mismatched socks
and listen to bells that aren’t ringing.
The world has seams.
We live in the fray.
Pull the thread gently—
and giggle if the whole thing unravels.
We are not here to be explained.
We are here to delight the logic out of you,
so your soul can play again.
