A mining engineer drills down into exploration and mining
Engineers drill down into exploration results using an economic lens. Do the drill results indicate that the material is likely to be economic? If so, how might the deposit eventually be exploited? How long does it take to develop a project? How complex are operating mine sites?
(I do this as an educational hobby - comments and ideas are always welcomed)
Mining operations are complex ventures to build and operate. It helps to recognize the complexity by studying different mine site layouts.
Some free spreadsheet tools have been created to allow anyone to drill down into exploration data and examine rock profitability.
Mining projects take time to develop, in some cases decades. See some actual project timelines and their milestones.
