Where the Appalachian trail crosses 183 there is a gate. If there is noone parked in the small spot there you can park there to avoid having to walk across 183, just don't park in front of the gate. However a safer place to park if you don't mind the street crossing is Here then walk west along the Appalachian trail
Stay on the AT until you get to the T where the memorial for the fort is in front of you. The AT will run to your right then makes a quick left (note: if you stay straight and the trail down the hill you will end up on Hawk Mountain Scout reservation property which is private)
If you are facing the monument and you turn left towards the man made pond you will find the ruins in that area. That is the area of the old fort and hotel You can find more info here
If you continue West on the AT you will come across a sign that says BERKS COUNTY HP Follow the arrow, blazes will be yellow marks on the trees until you get to the Caleb Franz memorial trail sign. (1.7 miles from that sign)
Follow that sign to the High Point
Return back the way you came, to wherever you parked
