Creating the character
WRITTEN APPLICATIONS

Name: (names must be unique from other dogs in the group! Reserving names is not allowed)

Notoriety Level: (everybody starts at “Nobody,” level 1)

Council Rank: (This applies only to dogs who are on the Canine Council, Read more about this in the council on how to get here. Leave this blank for now or remove it if you are not interested in the council).
Personality: (This must be at least 300 words and include at least 5 traits. Please give your character a mix of strengths and flaws)
Backstory: (This must be at least 200 words. How did your character get to Canidale? If they are a stray have they lived here all along? Or did they come as a pet with their humans? Feel free to have fun but just make sure that it makes sense with the history of Canidale!)

VISUAL APPLICATIONS
DESIGN GUIDELINES
All characters must be realistic in terms of design, build, disabilities and capabilities to the chosen breed. Unnatural colors, diseases and powers are not accepted.
You are encouraged to interpret realistic markings to be more simple than they are in a photograph, and be more akin to an animated character design.
Cropped ears and docked tails, missing limbs, missing eyes, etc. are allowed but must have context in your character’s history as to how they got that way. These types of physical differences require surgery and therefore human interference, so keep that in mind!
DOG HAIRDOS such as Disney’s Rita, Georgette, Dixie, etc. Are only allowed in the context that the dog breed may plausibly have that type of design (Such as them being an afghan hound or poodle). They may also occur in mutt designs, but make sure to add in the breed the hairdo comes from!
Collars, harnesses, sweaters, scarves, and other items are allowed. However, if your dog is a stray, make sure that there is a context to the item and why they have it.
Height and weight must be realistic to the breed's standard of your chosen breed. If it is a mutt, choose a height and weight that is within the breeds you have chosen to use.
ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS
To create any additional character, you must fulfill the requirements found below and send in a note for the group to claim a slot. Be aware of the current faction openings, which you can check on the front page of Deviantart.
Character creation is not open all the time, an announcement will be made each acceptance window for the members. Outside of these windows, all requests will be denied. You can calculate beforehand and manage your time, as each character opening will be held the last two weeks of each season, resulting in one additional character per season.
Admins are not bound by this limitation, as they often need to bring in plot related characters.
