Call for presenters

Deep Learning Barcelona Symposium

The Deep Learning Barcelona Symposium (DLBCN) aims at showcasing the research developed by scientists in/from Barcelona. That is, scientists who currently work in Barcelona or who pursued part of their academic career in Barcelona. This unique meeting gathers multidisciplinary researchers in the field of deep learning, and shows the potential of the capital to become the AI hub in Southern Europe. The fifth edition of this symposium will be held onsite on Thursday 21st of December 2023, at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, located in Poblenou. The keynote speaker will be Fernando De La Torre from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). The event is free for both presenters and attendees thanks to the kind support of our sponsors and organizing institutions.

Presenters

The presenters in the oral or poster sessions of the Deep Learning Barcelona Symposium must have developed part of their research career or academic studies in the city of Barcelona or its proximity, whether currently or in the past.

Call for Speakers

The call for speakers in the oral sessions aims at researchers who have published in top tier conferences or journals, preferably during 2023, and whose contributions are closely related to the theory or applications of deep neural networks. Talks may focus on one or multiple papers.

We provide, as a reference, the publication venues and h5-index from the works presented during the oral sessions in DLBCN 2021: CVPRECCV, ICCV, ACL, ICASSP, INTERSPEECH, NeurIPS, COLING, CONLL, MICCAI.

Call for Posters

The call for posters invites researchers who have a peer reviewed publication during 2022 or 2023, and whose contributions are closely related to the theory or applications of deep neural networks. The aim of the poster session is creating opportunities for discussion and networking between junior and senior researchers, both local or from overseas. Doctoral students are especially encouraged to submit their work, even if unpublished.

Contents of the presentation or poster

The contents of the presentations should cover the contents of the referred publications, but presenters are also encouraged to include related posterior work and discuss future research directions.

Selection criteria for presenters

The selection of the DLBCN Symposium speakers not only aims at high scientific quality, but also targets diversity from different perspectives, including gender, institutions and research groups, local and overseas speakers, covered topics, and talks on previous editions of the symposium. As a consequence, excellent scientific contributions may not not be included in the speaker’s program. In these cases, authors will be invited to present their work as a poster.

The program will be defined by a representation of all organizing institutions. See the organizing committee here.
