This is an online interactive game titled "3rd World Farmer" which was utilized in my student teaching placement. Following lessons focused on less developed countries vs. more developed countries and the many factors that play into these metrics, students were instructed to work through the struggles of a 3rd world farmer. Students were challenged to develop a successful farming community while being faced with obstacles such as natural disasters, other communities, disease, famine, and other various real-world issues. This lesson provided students the perspective of a family that relies of a successful crop season to sustain them over the harsh winters. Utilizing this technology in the classroom helps students to understand the challenges of modern development and sustainable growth.
This lesson demonstrates the ability to integrate technology into the classroom to provide students with a deeper understanding of the lesson and a more in-depth perspective of the everyday challenges faced with development. (3N) "accesses and uses a wide range of information and instructional technologies to enhance a student's ongoing growth and achievement".
This image represents collaboration with fellow teachers and department staff. Every Monday throughout student teaching I met with my department and my PLC (Professional Learning Community) to share strategies, plan for upcoming assessments or lessons, and discuss common struggles we have seen with students. This collaborative effort led to enhanced lessons, addressing student concerns, and a uniformed approach to teaching our curriculum. Reoccurring student issues were addressed and plans to improve student abilities were developed within these meetings.
This collaboration demonstrates the ability to work well with coworkers to make necessary adjustments based on student needs. (3P) "works with others to adapt and modify instruction to meed individual student needs."
