The Series to Tackle Racism in Developmental Science (STRIDES) was an initiative by run by Anna Gui, Angelica Ronald, and Maheen Siddiqui, aimed at addressing racism within scientific research, particularly in developmental psychology, neuroscience, and genetics. Funded by the Wellcome/Birkbeck Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF), STRIDES organised interdisciplinary panel events, with invited speakers who shared their knowledge and perspectives to promote racial diversity in research and foster anti-racist work environments. These events facilitated open conversations and the development of actionable objectives to combat racism in scientific practice.
We have adopted these ideas to form the Diversity in Developmental Science network which aims to foster diversity, equity, & inclusion within academia & research. We also aim to engage with the parents and caregivers in the community. Read more about our aims here.
