Strand 1: Develop design specifications, which clearly states the success criteria for the design of a solution (1-2 Pages).

• Design specification is a set of considerations, constraints and requirements for a solution: what the solution must or must not have to be successful. A specification is not a description of the outcome. 

• Success Criteria is the standards/levels by which to judge whether a specific aspect of design specification has been achieved/is successful. 

• If a solution or design fails to meet an ASPECT of the specification, it can be considered that it has not met the criteria for success. You will need to refer back to the specification throughout the project, particularly when developing ideas and evaluating the solution. 

• Every aspect of a specification/success criteria must be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and testable (SMART). The specification should be directly connected to the design brief. 

• Based on what you found in your research through the course of Inquiring and Analyzing, you now have to decide on what your product needs to be successful. Construct a detailed list (at least 8) design specifications plus the Success Criteria for the product.

Strand 2: Develop a range of feasible design ideas which can be correctly interpreted by others (6-7 Pages).

• A feasible design idea is an idea that you can successfully make independently in the given time, with your skills, and with the resources at your disposal. A natural starting place when designing is with a a digital tool, developing rough sketches of potential solutions. You should focus on getting the basic building blocks of ideas sketched out in short.These initial ideas should focus on generating a range of different solutions to the problem.

• When developing your design ideas, you must always be working towards the goal of designing a solution to the problem (a design that fully meets the design specifications), for which the requirements have been defined through the design specification.

• Develop a range of good quality designs guided by your design specifications. You are supposed to develop a minimum of 3 detailed annotated designs for the solution (Video). Your description for each design should be detailed and clear and use captions on images or diagrams for further emphasis on the parts that are not clear .

• Ensure that you annotate designs with sufficient detail to explain how they meet the requirements of the design specification and so as to explain your designs (your design thinking) in detail.

• As you work on the creation of the three designs you will subject each design to evaluation (by client, peer and a parent). This will assist you to obtain feedback necessary for the improvement of the design and guide you create a design that fully meets the design specifications. You can use various ways to obtain feedback for your designs during evaluation such as table of ratings, interviews, surveys, questionnaires, etc.

• The feedback obtained from the evaluation done by the client, peer and the parent shall assist you to come up with a design that fully meets the design specifications.

• Present in a summary the feedback obtained from evaluation done on the three designs; description of how each design realized/met design specifications and  the suggested areas for improvements/ further development  recommended for each design during evaluation.

• You can additionally use charts such as pie charts, bar graphs and others where possible to explain  more on the feedback obtained during the evaluation of the designs; how the design specifications perfomed for each design during the evaluation. 

• In Appendices (last page after strand 4) provide the evidence of the feedback obtained for each design  through: screenshots of surveys done, screenshots of interviews done, table of ratings used etc.

• Make sure to refer to the appendices (feedback obtained) within your work; when summarizing feedback obtained through proper labelling such as refer to Appendix B1, B2 etc.

Strand 3: Present the final chosen design and justify its selection (1-2 Pages).

• Present the picture of the chosen design from the three designs evaluated (by the client, peer and an expert) with detailed annotations of the same.

• Provide detailed justification/reasons why the design was chosen (Hint: explain how the chosen design met most or all of the design specifications).

• Explain why the other two designs were not chosen.

Strand 4: Develop accurate and detailed planning drawings/diagrams and outline the requirements for the creation of the solution (3-4 Pages).

• This is the process of detailing the requirements necessary for the creation of the chosen solution.

• Create a table of requirements that details the resources (tools, materials and skills) needed to create the solution. 

• You are supposed to have identified the resources that you need to create the solution for the client such as the tools, materials and technology skills.

• Tools include both hardware and software needed to create the materials for example software such as Flimora for editing video, Visual Studio Code for coding, Laptop for installing these particular software etc.

• Materials include digital materials that you need to create the solution for example the type of fonts you will use, the type of pictures, the information you need, kind of audio needed, kind of music etc. depeding g on the solution you creating.

• Technology Skills include the technology skills you need to learn/have, to create the solution for example image editing, coding skills such as HTML,CSS, Javascript, video editing skills, audio editing skills and many others depending on the solution you are creating.
