CSU/UC Approved Course: Library Practice HS
Course Code: 460309/10 • Grades 9–12 • Credits: 5 per semesterStudents assigned to the Library Practice course learn some of the technical aspects of library service, such as organizing books, patron service, and maintaining a secure and functional computer lab. Also, soft workplace skills, such as collaboration and communication with teammates, are emphasized. The outcome of the Library Practice experience is workplace and career readiness through applied technical and interpersonal efficacy. Library Practice students model these behaviors and attributes:

Initiative to finish the task
Technology proficiency
Students interested in enrolling in Library Practice should talk to their counselor or school administrator. Approval will also be needed from Mr. Moreno.
The Los Angeles Public Library is seeking students interested in a library career for the annual Diversity and Inclusion Apprenticeship (DAIA) program. Through a mentored learning experience, students representing the diversity within their communities gain hands-on knowledge in various aspects of library work.
This is a paid apprenticeship (in-person) with an hourly pay of $22.18 that runs for ten weeks, up to 20 hours per week, from June 16 to August 23, 2025. There are up to 20 positions available.
