Sul Palco Della Risonanza

Baroque & Jazz: a perfect blend

Nyckelharpa player Didier François and pianist Michel Bisceglia have both had careers for decades, one mainly in the world of baroque, the other also on the jazz platform. For some years now, the duo has been bringing the two styles together: jazz and baroque find each other in original interpretations of well-known works. No complicated moves, but creative, seductive interpretations of big names that make one dream (Goldberg Variations, J.S. Bach). Sometimes ethereal and fragile (Preludium, J.S. Bach), sometimes honest and heartfelt ("Sola, perduta, abbandonata", G. Puccini), or very personally interpreted and arranged ("With Darkness Deep", G.F. Handel). The musician duo always miraculously succeeds in combining baroque and jazz into an exquisite blend, delicate and subtle like a top wine.

The programme can be booked "in duo" (piano, nyckelharpa), "in trio" (with Markku Ounaskari, Finnish top drummer from the Sibelius Academy and also ECM artist who played in various ensembles with a.o. Lee Konitz, Markus Stockhausen and Piirpauke). All three of these may be described as excellent musicians that master the fantastic fusion of baroque and jazz right down to the tips of their fingers.
