Philippus Demonte year | Missa Si Ambulavero (‘I walk and wander’’) - 60’
On the occasion of the De Monte year 2021, Didier Francois (nyckelharpa) and Michel Bisceglia (piano) put the Mechelen polyphonist Philippus De Monte (1521°) in the spotlight. A unique symbiosis of Flemish polyphony, jazz and improvisation. Fragments sung by the Antwerp Ensemble Utopia flow over into instrumental parts by jazz and gamba/nyckelharpas players.
Si Ambulavero, "I walk and wander", challenges the listener to inner reflection, a soothing meditative moment of silence within. The choristers walking around the instrumentalists make this performance transcend the 'traditional' worship service.
Didier François, Michel Bisceglia and Ensemble Utopia take up a special challenge: a fusion of early and modern music to set people (including the singers) in motion. A special experience for connoisseurs.
