Semiconductor Si Waste for Recovery & Reuse
Synopsis
Semiconductor wafer fabrication produce significant amount of Si waste through back-grinding & sawing process. Very significant amount of water is used to flush out the Si waste particles. Effort is made to recover & recycle the water as an approach for sustainability while the recovered Si waste can be modified to meet certain commercial applications. We will discuss in detail the approach to recover & recycle the semiconductor Si waste for advance commercial applications.
Waste Management in Sustainable Smart Cities
Synopsis
The presentation explores Sustainable Smart Cities (SSC) and how advanced technologies like IoT, AI, and data analytics are transforming traditional waste management systems. It highlights challenges such as inefficient collection processes and environmental hazards while showcasing innovative solutions like smart bins, optimized collection routes using sensors, and waste-to-energy initiatives. These technologies improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability. Future directions including Digital Twin and blockchain integration innovation are required to create smarter, more sustainable waste management frameworks.
Question 1
Do Dr think the smart city is a good movement to a sustainable environment in a long-term period ?
Answer by Dr Nagham
Yes, smart cities can significantly contribute to long-term environmental sustainability by optimising resource use, reducing waste, and enhancing urban livability. Technologies like IoT, AI, and smart grids improve energy efficiency, transportation, waste management, and urban planning. However, success depends on addressing challenges like high costs, data privacy, and inclusivity to ensure sustainable and equitable implementation.
Question 2
How we can work with Dr project as our final year project ?
Answer by Dr Nagham
If your educational institution permits external supervisors, I’d be happy to collaborate with you on any project related to the topics I mentioned in my presentation. Feel free to reach out to me via email at nagham.saeed@uwl.ac.uk.
