Hardware requirements for Online Teaching

Ramkalyan Ayyagari, NIT Trichy

What I recommend is this list for online classes.

1. 1 Tb external hard disk – 2 numbers. (2 Tb is also available, but don't go for it.)

2. WACOM One - CTL-672/K0-CX Medium 8.5-inch x 5.3-inch Graphic Tablet if your laptop/computer doesn’t have a touch screen to write on with a stylus. This costs less than 7k on Amazon, and around 8000 in market. As far as I have seen, this is the best. It comes with stylus also. Very handy replacement for our boards.

3. Logitech ConferenceCam BCC950 or higher – if needed. This is 14 - 16k, and has excellent camera, mic and speaker. I am using 950 for 4 years.

4. In addition, check your laptop model, warranty etc and think of batteries.

5. If needed, go for a APC UPS. At least for the WiFi router.

6. Try get a 100 Mbps WiFi from agencies such as railtel. It costs about 1000/- pm. But it's very good.

Previously we were using 2 or more pens, 2 bank accounts. It's time for 2 WiFi services, from different service providers.
