Creativity on the part of the teachers is important
Availability of copyright protected digital media for dissemination to students is an issue that institutes have to address with urgency.
Reading materials are sent out/recordings of lectures made available for the students, which are used by students while attending classes from home. Such material could contain information/language/images that are sensitive to certain members of the family say children. These issues need to be thought about deeply.
Teaching is easier than evaluation in humanities. Most of the material is not amenable to multiple choice type of questions since the context of statements and creativity in answers are important. Literary texts are less amenable to bullet points.
People are differently abled technologically.
Not enough archival material is available in subjects such as history and non-English languages.
Hence there is an urgent need for institutional support for copyright protected clear but light scans of books and other reading material.
Teachers are very committed to their teaching and their own learning. New methods are being adapted from a wide range of inspirations - from radio jockeys to open university systems.
Archiving of online teaching in the form of recording challenges the notion of classrooms being social spaces where free conversations, including mistakes that are rectified, occur. Moreover, there is a chance of being mis-quoted or quoted out of context by taking a small portion of the recording.
Usually students remember the form of teaching and not the content. Online teaching loses out on form.
Training teachers, especially in online evaluation is important.
Teachers have to be gentle on themselves and accept that it is alright to take a step back, slow down and focus on the teaching process rather than on completing everything ontime.
