The goal of student recruitment and selection for OHVA’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Program is to locate and select students that have proper expectations and goals for participation in the program. In order to locate and select these students, the goals and expectations of the students who participate in any of our programs will be clearly defined.
During the recruitment process, students will be provided opportunities to learn about the different programs at OHVA. Using a variety of informational materials, including a Web site, videos, and pamphlets, as well as direct communication to students and parents from CTE administrators, teachers, and guidance counselors, all aspects of the program will be explained.
Students interested in participating in any CTE Program during their sophomore/junior/senior year should meet the following criteria:
Be on target with their credits for graduation
Fill out and submit an application, including section on student and parent acknowledgement of program participation expectations
In order to be considered for one of OHVA's CTE Programs, the student must:
Complete our internal application, agreeing to the terms stated in the application
Respond to follow-up questions sent through email by CTE department prior to application closing date
Commit to participating for the duration of the pathway (four year-long courses; no dropping mid-year)
Failure to do any of these things will result in the student not being permitted to participate in OHVA's CTE Program.
*Any student will be considered for placement in a program after meeting with CTE administration if the prior criteria are not met.
Students should have a developed Career Plan in partnership with their school counselor and should review it annually to ensure they are on track for graduation, continually updating the plan as needed.
