Volunteer

The Des Moines Defenders functions completely off of volunteers. Without your involvement, this program would not be possible. This helps keep our overheard costs down which allows the registration fees to remain affordable. To keep this program operating smoothly, we need every family volunteering ten hours/registered player with a maximum of twenty hours per family. If you don’t have the time, or prefer not to volunteer, we have an optout fee which would be used to pay someone to work those slots.

Our mission is “The Des Moines Defenders offers an opportunity for homeschool students who have a passion for serving God to glorify and honor Him through competitive sports.” What better way to demonstrate this mission to our kids, than to volunteer our time to serve others?

We will have a training session and a mentoring program to teach families how to do scorekeeping. Jae Sturm is organizing the concessions, so concession duty would just be a matter of serving the food.
