an idea
The idea is born in a flickering moment of inspiration. Recognize something you like and experiencing a sense of appreciation and interest. An impression in your mind slowly growing into a basic concept. Inspiration fused with something you have never done before and always wanted to try. Growing a concept is enabled by time, empty space and engaging of the mind. Add colors and shapes and you are off to a running start.
the idea on paper
The design process starts with a basic sketch and several drawings by free hand until the picture that emerges becomes the original idea. Small alterations and changes to the drawing clearly indicates the boundaries in which the original idea was cast, and limits to where it ends. Progressing towards proportions and dimensions but not limiting the creative nature of the process. Seeking positive critic from others in the industry is best done at this time, being careful not to be drawn into conventional ideas flooding the market today.
the concept
The final concept emerges with basic dimensions, shapes, practical implications, key design elements, strength and finally practicality of the item. How will this look, feel and fit into a luxury setting. Pausing at final alterations and small features open for more creativity at a later stage.
manufacturing
The manufacturing process starts with a bang of energy producing the basic design of the structure but carefully leaving choices for changes in the welding of the steel, final cuts to metal and wood open for return and rework. This is done with the objective to improve the overall design “as you make” every step of the way. Carefully foreseeing these hold points leaves room for alterations as rework is embraced as part of improvement.
mock-up
The mocking up is a time consuming, up and down, make-fit process which leaves opportunities for parallel work, matching pieces and elements to get closer and closer to the final look and feel. This critical step in the process clearly shows everything wrong with this design, re-thinking and re-making all in one. Time consuming comparison to the original idea is what makes this an exciting milestone as the vision is developing into reality.
grinding away
The completion process is a combination of tedious and time-consuming activities, grinding away behind the tools and very important quality control with absolutely no turning back. A truly exciting part of the process as the final milestone is looming just around the corner. “Believe in yourself, this will work”
photography and optimal use of AI
Showcasing art is an art itself as every dimension, element, intimate detail and beauty is revealed. Variations of settings, blending different lights, positions and backgrounds being the key to reveal the final product. As always beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not necessary the creator, an interesting predicament.
capturing a story in one word
The name of the artwork is the final and most important step of the process. Its a short summary captured in one word, telling the story from idea conception with moments from every step of the way.
the name - NY drizzle not just represents an industrial style, but also a cold urban look and feel it.“Imagine concrete, cold wet weather and large buildings covering the skyline”
