In preparation for the Division Athletic Games 2026, the Schools Division Office of Surigao del Norte intensified its efforts to ensure that all designated billeting quarters are clean, orderly, safe, and conducive to the well-being of participating learners.
The activity was spearheaded by Division DRRM Coordinator Maโam Maricarl A. Malto, PDO-II, together with Division Learners Rights Protection PDO-I Maโam Marinelle R. Recamara, with the support of Administrative Support-II (COS-DRRM) Jove G. Orillo Jr. The team visited the identified billeting quarters to post Solid Waste Management (SWM) tarpaulins and inspect the availability and readiness of the Learners Rights Protection (LRP) Desks.
The posting of SWM tarpaulins serves as a reminder to athletes, coaches, and other delegates to practice proper waste segregation and disposal. At the same time, the inspection of the LRP Desks helps ensure that appropriate support and reporting mechanisms are available to protect the rights, safety, and welfare of learners during the event.
The activity also highlights the importance of reuse and sustainable resource management. The SWM tarpaulins were previously used during the CARAGA Regional Athletic Games 2026 and were repurposed for the Division Athletic Games. This practice not only maximizes available resources but also contributes to reducing unnecessary waste.
The designated billeting quarters include Tagana-an Central Elementary School โ Tagana-an District; Bad-as Elementary School โ Placer District; Tubod Central Elementary School โ Tubod District; Amando A. Fabio Memorial National High School โ Bacuag District; Mabuhay Elementary School โ Sison District; Surigao del Norte National High School; Anao-aon Central Elementary School โ Anao-aon District; and San Francisco National High School โ Malimono District.
These preparations reflect the commitment of the SDO Surigao del Norte to provide more than just accommodation for the athletes and delegates. They aim to establish billeting areas that uphold cleanliness, safety, environmental awareness, and learner protection.
As athletes from different schools come together for the Division Athletic Games 2026, everyone is encouraged to contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
