The Schools Division of Surigao del Norte carried out the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) as part of its continuing efforts to institutionalize disaster preparedness in schools, under the direction of the Division DRRM.

During the drill, learners, teaching, and non-teaching personnel demonstrated timely and coordinated responses to the simulated earthquake scenario. Protective actions were immediately performed, followed by calm and systematic evacuation to identified safe areas.

Division DRRM monitors noted improved compliance with established safety protocols, efficient crowd management, and more organized headcount and reporting procedures. The activity emphasized treating earthquake drills as realistic emergency scenarios to strengthen discipline and readiness.

The 3rd Quarter NSED also reinforced disaster risk reduction awareness among learners, highlighting the importance of preparedness in earthquake-prone areas. The activity forms part of the division’s sustained commitment to ensuring safe learning environments through continuous disaster preparedness measures.
