_________

This project strives to highlight perception that internalizing democracy culture and approaching it respectfully is important for peace in Europe and peace around the world.

PROJECT AIMS

The project aims at motivating children to learn more about a democratic lifestyle and democracy culture. Also it will contribute to struggle against discrimination, xenophobia and racism. It aspires to contribute to participants' development to be successful leaders by improving their transversal skills. This project aims to enhance students' skills that are necessary to achieve a democratic culture such as learning to learn, analytical and critical thinking, listening and observing, empathy, flexibility and adaptability, linguistic, communicative skills, co-operation, and conflict-resolution. Through these skills, we want to highlight the benefits of active citizenship and demonstrate that teachers can contribute to the creation of sustainable democracies. The results will be disseminated locally, nationally and internationally to all students involved, teachers, parents, rest of teaching staff and management.

The objective of the project: Develop a sense of democracy culture for 500 direct participant students and 500 indirect participant teachers, parents through cooperation between schools in 5 countries (Lithuania, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Greece) over a 24-month period.

Our main goal is to help institutions develop better prevention and intervention plans to deal with social inclusion, for which we have set the following goals:

  • To raise democratic citizens who can think universally.

  • To improve their knowledge and skills.

  • To cooperate internationally.

  • To create a synergy by encouraging the relationship among students coming from different cultures.

  • To make a contribution to cultural integration against any kind of discrimination.

  • To promote more active participation in society.

  • To promote greater understanding and responsibility for social inclusion, democratic society and cultural diversity.

  • To reach these objectives drama performances, exhibitions, conferences, environment related activities, cultural tours, folk dances and competitions, cine-visions will be held.

Apart from these methods, a MUN (Model United Nations) will be held to cultivate skills and enrich their global affairs knowledge through interactive debate. Our participants are aged between 15-18, some of whom are socio-economically disadvantaged and come from different cultures.
