C4 - Exploration of human rights - making justice work. Constructive debates

24th april 2023

"Democracy Begins At Home" . The first day was so intense, we started with the welcome reception in the school atrium with the students of music, citizenship and history of Portugal, who made giant red carnations, symbols of the Revolution and Freedom in Portugal. Then we took a tour of the school, it was possible to know the spaces destined to the students, as well as the management and direction of the school. Lunch was in the school canteen, with the right to break for icebreaking and getting to know everyone. In the afternoon we started the presentations of each country about the national institutions that proclaim Human Rights. The visiting students participated in a Visual Education class, making a paperweight with recycled material, under the theme of the week. The day culminated with a unique and unforgettable moment that parents provided to colleagues from Greece, Poland, Turkey and Italy. Portuguese flavors, made with the heart, could be shared and unite such different peoples and cultures.

"Rise Up (Y)OUR  Hands For Human Rights"- this is how our week will be.

Day to celebrate April 25, in Portugal and with Democracy that begins at home. We participated in the celebrations, from the Municipality of Cinfães, listened to the National Anthem and the Guard of Honor made by the Firefighters. The Mayor and the entire executive received the Erasmus team in the Noble Hall of the Town Hall. After a Francesinha lunch, we went to the school to continue the presentations on Human Rights.

The day ended with a dinner at the Douro Hotel Porto Antigo, Portuguese food and the Douro River as the backdrop for the evening.

Together, Greece, Poland, Italy, Turkey and Portugal unite values, ideologies and differences when they raise their hands for human rights.

"Democracy Begins At Home" on the third day visited the Alto Douro wine region. We made a visit to the village of Pinhão, then we rode on a Rabelo boat, characteristic of the transportation of the Porto wine.  We went to enjoy the view of the Douro at the Casal de Loivos viewpoint. We visited Quinta do Tedo, on the way to Régua. The day ended with the return trip by train, Régua-Mosteirô.

A World Heritage Site, the vast Douro Demarcated Region is the oldest regulated wine-growing region in the world. The region produces the famous Port wine. Unique landscapes and cultures that make us feel freedom. This is how we spread Human Rights, inside and outside the school. Through formal and informal learning.
