About me: I grew up in a small town and attended Era ISD, K-12, in north Texas and graduated in 1989. I played Varsity Volleyball, Basketball, Track, and was a Varsity Cheerleader. I also participated in UIL OAP, having advanced to State. I was the first person in my family to attend college.
My Educational Journey: I attended Grayson County College on theatre and cheerleading scholarships, was an active member of Delta Psi Omega and Student Government. I transferred to East Texas State University, and served with the Alpha Psi Omega honorary Theatre fraternity. I received my BS in Theatre, with an emphasis in acting and directing, and was awarded by ETSU. I also have my Masters in Theatre from Texas A&M University- Commerce, with an emphasis in improvisation, creative teaching, and playwriting. I am currently enrolled in the MFA program at the University of Idaho with the expectation of graduating in December 2025.
My Teaching Journey began fall of 1997, although I have just completed my 26th year of teaching. I have served as an Assistant Director, Technical Director and Director of Theatre as well as a UIL Academic Coordinator, Speech & Debate Coach and Cheer Coach and Spirit Director. I have taught middle school through University level. My students have advanced to the National and State levels, with Thespians and UIL One-Act Play, CX Debate, and Theatrical Design in costume and marketing. I have several formers who have attended Carnegie Mellon, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas State and University of Texas at Austin, to name a few, and many are working professionally whether they attending college or not.
My Professional Journey: I am a member of Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA) and recently served on the K12 & Curriculum Committee as the HS Interest Chair, and also serve with the Texas Thespians Educational Collective Board as the Awards Chair.
I have three children, Lauren, Cole, and Makenna, who are all grown, and three fur babies, Carson, Bo, and Blanco, and I have owned a photography business since 2003 and a theatre production company since 2000. I have also performed in community theatre, film, television and commercials. Some of my favorite memories include working with Jack and Bobby, Friday Night Lights, Grind House, & Bernie.
