My name is James Weaver and I am running for Dorchester District Two School Board. As a resident of Dorchester County for over 14 years, my wife and I have two children ages 7 and 13 currently attending DD2 Schools. Over the past 6 years I have served the District as:
Chair of the DD2 Education Foundation: Serving on the board for 5 years
Cyber Security Dual Credit Program Lead: Supported DD2 Dual Credit Initiatives for 6 years
Vex Robotics Advisory Board Chair: Supporting Vex Robotics as a Business Partner and Coordinator for all Judges
James Weaver is a Husband and Father, a leader in Higher Education and a US Army Officer. He doesn’t pretend to have all the answers, but inversely understands that he merely represents one perspective within a pool of many. His promise, is to ensure that you have a voice in Dorchester School District Two.

I am running for School Board to keep our Students First by focusing on integrity, relationships and community in our School District. With over 20 years of experience in Higher Education, I have honed a unique skill set to ensure our teachers have the necessary tools to teach in the virtual environment. I want to use these skills to lead our school district as a board member!
As your school board representative, I promise to be YOUR voice while holding close to these concepts.
Students: “Children Come First”
This follows my personal theme I have followed in my 20 years in Higher Education. I have taught in the classroom and currently serve as The Campus President for ECPI University. Students are the foundation of an educational environment. Keeping them first always allows me to consider the impact we have on students and their future.
Teachers: “Supporting our Teachers”
Teachers are the lifeline of any school environment. I will support teachers by ensuring they have access to the tools necessary to teach their students and the support from leadership at the school and district level.
Integrity: “Do What’s Right”
As a 23 year veteran currently serving in the South Carolina Army National Guard as a Company Commander; I breathe integrity and the fundamentals of leadership, duty, honor and country.
Relationships: “Build a Foundation of Trust”
As a leader in Higher Education, I am able to foster relationships in the low country to assist in teacher and student growth. Volunteering as a foundation board member and currently the Board Chair, the foundations’ board has grown our partner relationships which in turn has resulted in raising more than 1 Million Dollars to support STEM+H programs in our schools.
Community and Diversity: “Stand United”
Our Community makes our school district. Listening to our parents and community as a change agent allows for input to be received and implemented to support our students, teachers and schools in order to maximize student outcomes.
Together we can elevate and uplift Dorchester Two Schools by continuing to build on the core values of the district. I will keep our students first and work for current and future generations while we blend in – seat and remote learning environments to our students, teachers and community.
