I have enjoyed being able to serve as a member of the Dorchester 2 School Board for the last four years and will continue to work hard every day to make sure that we have the best school district that we can. This is only possible with all of the assistance and dedication of parents, teachers, community members, and the entire Dorchester 2 family that do so much to contribute and make the district the exceptional place that it is.
Evan was elected to the Dorchester 2 School Board in 2016 and is currently serving his first term. Evan currently serves as the Board Policy Chair.
Evan is an attorney and business owner that uses his experience to anticipate and solve problems as they arise within the school district. He has the legal skills to read and help interpret school policies, contracts, and agreements which is a large portion of the work as a school board member. As a small business owner he understands working with a limited budget and maximizing results. His career focuses on long term planning and making decisions for future generations and as the youngest current school board member he will witness and live with the effects of the decisions that the board makes. Evan has the experience of being on the school board and realizes how important it is to work together with others on the board and in the district to accomplish any challenge that arises.
Evan enjoys helping Dorchester District 2 and has appeared at many Dorchester 2 School District classes and events including those at Summerville High School, Ashley Ridge High School, Fort Dorchester High School, Beech Hill Elementary School, Eagle Nest Elementary School, Flowertown Elementary School, and River Oaks Middle School among others.
Evan Guthrie is active in the local community and serves as a board member for Dorchester Habitat For Humanity and volunteers to help such organizations as Dorchester County Library, Center For Heirs Property Preservation, South Carolina Legal Services, Future Business Leaders Of America, Camp Happy Days, Dorchester Children’s Advocacy Center, Pro Bono Legal Services, South Carolina Special Olympics, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, Engaging Creative Minds, South Carolina DECA, Operation Home, Ronald McDonald House, Charleston Cinderella Project, Trident Literacy Association, YEScarolina, Lowcountry STEM Collaborative, Charleston Animal Society, HALOS.
