I will continue to be your children's positive voice! Re-elect me for Dorchester District 2 School Board

Twelve years ago, when I first ran for the DD2 school board, I promised to put my teaching experience to work to make sure the Lowcountry's best schools did even better. After twelve years of serving on the board, I am pleased to say we’re continuing to make progress in our local schools. I’m honored to have been part of this success story.

I am as excited as I was years ago to announce that I’ll be seeking a fourth term in November – and I will need your support to win!

Education is my passion. Having taught for over 30 years, it is in my blood to help our students become all they can be and reach the success they deserve. DD2 schools offer the best educational opportunities available, and I am proud to have been a part of that decision making. My daughter, her children, and the grands all attended DD2 schools.

With over thirty years’ teaching experience, I have more educational experience than anyone else on the board. I have two Masters degrees, Elementary/Early Childhood education, another Masters in School Administration and Leadership, and an EdS in Science and Endorsement for Gifted & Talented. I was a Trainer for Elementary Science across SC, to teach elementary teachers how to teach science to their elementary students. I have won numerous local, state, and national awards, including being the “Most Innovative Elementary Science Teacher” by the NSTA.

I have always been an advocate for teachers, the heartbeat of any educational institution. Having walked in their shoes, I know the day-to-day challenges they are faced with.

  • I have kept my word and promises proving in the past 12 years that I have the Integrity, Respect, Inspiration, and Motivation to continue to serve on the DD2 Board.

  • With two Masters Degrees (one in School Administration and Leadership), an EdS in Science, and Endorsed for Gifted & Talented,

  • I feel I have more educational experience and knowledge in the field that the other board members. I am a retired educator, facilitator, and Elementary Science presenter across SC where I teach elementary teachers, how to teach science to their students. I have also been an adjunct professor with Dr. Fred Watts at the CofC.

  • Safety is #1 Priority in our schools. DD2 is the first district to establish A Safety Task Force, formed to research and find ways our schools/students can be safer. Stop the Bleed kits are in almost all classrooms for emergencies, and teachers and staff have all been trained.

  • 2019 graduation rate 90.3% (state average 81.1%)

  • Drop out rate decreased to .8% due to interventions helping them to succeed.

  • 66% of school funds in DD2 reach the children, above the state average of 40%.

  • We are good stewards of the taxpayers money, while we do MORE with LESS, while maintaining the top five highest scores out of 81 districts in the state

YES! I am proud to have been a part of the board to make such important and crucial decisions for our students.
