Membership

Any person may participate as a Member of the Davis Square Neighborhood Council who:

• Resides within ½ mile of the Neighborhood Boundaries; or

• Receives support services within the Neighborhood Boundaries; or

• Is employed at a business located within the Neighborhood Boundaries; or

• Operates a business located within the Neighborhood Boundaries; or

• Owns real estate within the Neighborhood Boundaries; or

• Regularly volunteers at an organization/agency located within the Neighborhood Boundaries; or

• Is determined to have a genuine local interest by a majority vote of the Board.

To participate in DSNC meetings or votes, participants need to become official members by completing a form (below) with their name, address, email address, and qualifying Member criteria. Alternatively it is possible to participate as a non-member.  Non-members may still join and participate on the DSNC mailing list and attend and participate fully in DSNC meetings, with the exception of voting.

Members shall not be charged dues or any other membership fees.

To apply for membership, fill out this application form, and show one of the verification documents to a board member or authorized representative (listed below) at a meeting, the after-meeting socializing, or at an arranged time and date. To set up a verification meeting with a board member, email the board.

If you are applying for membership based on "genuine local interest" and you would like to vote in the upcoming board elections (April 13-27), you must fill out the application form BEFORE April 12.  Applications for membership based on this category that come in after April 12 will not be voted on until after the election concludes on April 27.  

Current verification opportunities: 

• Ongoing, EVERY DAY at Boston Tattoo from 12-8 PM Mon-Sat / 12-5 PM Sundays -- in person with Jason's team 

  • (NOTE: verification at Boston Tattoo will be available through April 12 and then will be suspended during the board election and resume after April 27)

• Thursday April 9, visit our outreach table in Davis Square from 5-7 PM (weather permitting)

• Saturday April 11, visit our outreach table in Davis Square from noon-4 PM (weather permitting)

• At the Somerville Library West Branch, 40 College Avenue, at the following times:

  • Monday, April 13, 2:00-7:00 pm

  • Saturday, April 18, 9:30am-12:00pm

  • Wednesday, April 22, 4:30-8:30pm

  • Saturday, April 25, 9:30am-12:00pm

  • Monday, April 27, 9:30am-5:00pm

Board members (Elaine F. Almquist, Chris Beland, PJ Kim-Santos, Zev Pogrebin, Carmen Phillips, Jack Connolly, Jason Zube, Louisa Bissett, and Paul Christie) and Election Committee members (Michèle Hansen, Emily B, Emily Lacika, Sara Oaklander, Hala Jadallah, Rebecca Rogers, and Ed Woll) are authorized to verify prospective new members' eligibility.
