Local residents, business owners, workers, volunteers, land owners, students, and others are eligible to become voting members of the Davis Square Neighborhood Council. Find out more.
A major topic of attention right now is a 40B proposal by Copper Mill to develop a major portion of Elm Street. Learn more about the proposal, the process, and how we can participate in the conversation. We are actively tracking the progress of the application, collecting community input, and ensuring everyone can participate in the conversation.
Copper Mill is holding public office hours at their field office, 235 Elm Street (formerly Caramel). Sign up for a time slot and read more about the design variations unveiled in April 2026 on the developer's web site: elmgrovedavis.com.
When formed and approved by the city, a “neighborhood council” gives Davis Square residents, business owners, and workers a guaranteed seat at the table when private developers want to reshape Davis Square. We have more work to do before we have formal authority as a neighborhood council.
Some DSNC members are passionate about issues outside the scope of official “neighborhood council” functions, such as Somerville Community Path improvements, pedestrian safety, economic development, supporting the arts, and more. We are pursuing those improvements to Davis Square as a group of residents sharing that vision for the future of our neighborhood.
