This piano concerto is inspired by the Mozart oeuvre, and especially the slow movements, which to me are some of the most beautiful musical works of all time. The way Mozart draws out time and revels in the languorous interplay of the sonorities of the piano with the orchestra is heart-wrenching in the greatest of his slow movements (in particular from concertos nos. 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 27).
I began work on this piece in 2021 and completed a draft of the opening movement with a cadenza in 2022. In the summer of 2025 I completed an Andantino movement that I'm very happy with. I'm currently working on polishing the Allegro Aperto, and have started composing a finale Rondo.
