These 15 piano pieces are the fruit of my continuing study of Bach teaching etudes. I call my pieces 3-Part Inventions, rather than Bach's term "Sinfonien". In them I delight in the beauty and power of the contrapuntal technique gleaned from intimacy with the exemplar models. But my Inventions lack the characteristic secondary idea that almost all of the Bach 3-part pieces possess, which elevates them from mere exercises into true miniature Sinfonias.
Nonetheless, I'm proud of my work, and believe it represents a new level of technical control for me, as well as being a set of lovely pieces of music in its own right. (NB: Still doing some polishing, and the scores – except for the one in C Major – have not been condensed into 2 staves.)
