Discussion on the restructuring of TC10/TC11 events

Assuming that we will organize ICDAR annually how do you think we should restructure the rest of our events?

A key proposal / action in the DAR 2020-23 strategic plan is to ensure that we organize ICDAR (a high-quality, CORE-A conference) every year. If we do this, we should also consider how this will affect the rest of our events (mainly DAS and ICFHR). We have listed here a number of possible ways to restructure our events. There are many small variants, but these should cover the main ways we dispose of. Please let us have your thoughts for each of them.

See here a summary of the restructuring options, along with some initial pros and cons for each possibility.

Discussion on the possible fusion of IAPR TC10/TC11

Points for and against merging IAPR TC10 and TC11 into a single IAPR Technical Committee

The IAPR Technical Committees 10 (Graphics Recognition) and 11 (Reading Systems) share many activities, as they both focus on advancing artificial intelligence methods for building systems to interpret written communication (be it graphical or textual in nature). They jointly organize ICDAR - the flagship conference on Document Analysis and Recognition, the TC10/11 doctoral consortium, and the TC10/11 Summer School series. They also hold joint TC10/11 meetings for their members during ICDAR and ICPR. On the other hand, the TC10 organizes the GREC workshop (satellite to ICDAR), while the TC11 organizes DAS and ICFHR. Over the past year, TC10 and TC11 have been developing a joint mid-long term strategic plan. Given the substantial overlapping, and the fact that they have a common strategy, it would make sense to merge the two TCs into a single one (with a potentially more extensive team of volunteers).
