Improving the Staffing Structure at an Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Facility

The target audience for the dissemination of the outcomes of this project is the Department of Mental Health (DMH), psychiatric nurses, and more broadly, those who work in or operate inpatient psychiatric facilities. Examples of those who will be targeted include Directors of Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurses, Hospital Administrators, Health Care Industry Leaders, Staff Educators, Nursing Instructors, Recipients of Services and their families, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. To reach the largest audience, the most effective format to share the information will be through a journal article. Increasing the pool of information related to best practices for nursing staffing patterns for an acute inpatient psychiatric facility will add to an underrepresented area of study. Using the formal strategy of a journal article will enhance credibility and gain the attention of those who will most benefit.
