Technology Leadership
Technology Leadership
Course Description:
Develop skills, knowledge, and values needed to provide leadership in schools. Analyzes characteristics of effective leaders, focusing on staff development. Explores technology and school reform, technology integration, and current issues.
Reflection:
I grew so much during this course. I learned a lot about evaluating new technologies, found many new grant opportunities I had never heard of, and reflected on times when I had been a project manager. Previously, I had never thought of myself in that role but in working through the Project Management module I realized there were actually a few times that I have been.
The CBAM project especially taught me so much. Before this project, I knew when projects at my school were not going well but could never explain exactly what the reasons for that were, and therefore had no proposed solutions to those issues. I now know what I can do (or what can be done prior to implementation) to help new projects go more smoothly.
I think this will make me a much better technology leader should I choose to take on such a role at some point. I have always thought about going into a leadership role but never saw myself leaving the classroom, especially not to step into the role of principal. This course has encouraged me to possibly pursue other leadership roles involving technology. And even if I never take on a formal leadership role, the skills and knowledge I have obtained in this course will help me to be a better leader and mentor in my school.
