One of my favorite fun projects was a low-budget chicken coop I built for my mom. During the egg shortage in the U.S., we had to cut back on how many eggs we were eating. My mom loves eggs and they are an important part of her daily diet, so the shortage affected her because eggs were one of her consistent sources of protein.

We needed a solution that was affordable, so I looked around for materials we already had and found scrap and excess pieces of wood that I could repurpose. Using those materials, I designed and built a shelter for our chickens.

It was a fun project because I was able to create something useful while keeping the cost as low as possible. The coop has lasted for more than a year, and I plan to continue upgrading it with simple improvements. My next projects include creating an easier watering system and a more efficient cleaning system, while continuing to reuse materials and keep costs as low as I can.
