Arriving & Departure
Getting to Vircava, Jelgava District.
If you arrive by plane:
• Fly into Riga International Airport (RIX). This is the closest major airport.
1) Travel into Riga city centre. From the airport, take bus No. 22 or the Airport Express shuttle to the Central Bus/Train Station (“Autoosta”). The trip is about 20–30 minutes. The local transport company recommends buying an e‑ticket in advance (via Narvesen kiosks or the Mobilly app) .
2) Get from Riga to Jelgava. There is no direct public transport from Riga to Vircava, so you must first reach Jelgava (the nearest city). You can:
• By bus: At Riga’s Central Bus Station (Rīgas SAO), board a bus to Jelgava operated by Hansa Lines or another carrier. Buses depart roughly every 20 minutes and reach Jelgava Bus Station (Jelgavas AO) in ~55 minutes . Tickets cost around €2.50 .
• Catch a train to Jelgava. From the Central Railway Station, board a suburban electric train (“elektriskais vilciens”) towards Jelgava. Trains depart roughly every 30–60 minutes during the day, and the trip takes about 45 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the station ticket office or from the conductor (approx. €2 one way). Upon arrival in Jelgava, follow the local directions to the training venue (the exact address will be provided by the organizers).
• Take a bus from Jelgava to Vircava. At Jelgava Bus Station (AO), look for route 6764 (operated by Wanema). This bus goes to Vircava, departing every few hours and taking about 20 minutes . The fare is around €1–2 . Ask the driver to drop you at the nearest stop to your accommodation.
• Transfer option: From Jelgava you can also take our organized transfer directly to Vircava (approx. 12 km; 15 minutes). For convenience or late arrivals, pre‑booked transfer is recommended.
If you choose “green travel” (train, bus or car)
• Bus and train: Follow the same route as above—first reach Jelgava by intercity bus or train, then change to bus 6764 to Vircava .
• Driving: Vircava lies about 55 km south‑west of Riga. Take the A8/E77 highway towards Jelgava, then follow local roads to Vircava. Driving from Riga takes approximately 49 minutes . Parking and public transport options will be detailed during online preparatory meeting with coordinator.
• Coach from other countries: International coaches typically stop at Riga Bus Station. From there, continue by bus or train as described.
Upon arrival
• Please aim to arrive in Jelgava on 21 October 2025 in the evening after 18:00. The training will start the following morning.
• Keep all travel receipts (plane, bus, train tickets, fuel receipts, etc.) for reimbursement in accordance with Erasmus+ rules.
• If you have any difficulty en route, contact the project coordinator using the emergency number +37120139181.
