Electives

Electives

  • Elective courses can be a KCAD Studio, General Education or Art History course, as well as any course from another college, if approved by the DAD program chair.

  • Consult with a faculty adviser to obtain recommendations when you are choosing your Electives. It will ensure that you are extending your portfolio in a way that maximizes its value in the professional market-place.

  • Many of these courses require prerequisites that you may not have. With the exception of Graphic Design, you can contact the program chairs and request to be enrolled without the prerequisite. The chairs can do this with a permission form or by sending an e-mail to the registrar asking them to register you.

  • Avoid taking courses for "fun". Starting a career in art and design requires dedication and focus. "Fun" courses that are unrelated to your field can actually detract from your ability to create a professional portfolio.
