Promotion

826 National .. a huge youth writing organization... I ran across an article mentioning this organization... https://826national.org

Email message from Brian. In our staff meeting yesterday, we talked about the ways we'll share and promote these videos. Here are our plans/ideas. We'd love to hear your thoughts!

-- Feature videos on homepage of our website

-- Share video links in our monthly newsletter

-- Share video links on Facebook and social media

-- Write a story about the collaboration and share videos on our blog

-- Write a story about the collaboration (with links) and publish in the Rapidian

-- Plug screening event and collaboration on WGVU's Shelley Irwin Show (radio)

-- Host the April 12 screening event at Wealthy Theatre's Koning Micro Cinema

It'd be great to be able to interview one or two KCAD students for the blog post and Rapidian article if that's possible. I know they're already done with this class, and we want to be mindful of their time and busy schedules. If it works, great! If not, we can talk to you and Jessica. :)

One thing we didn't discuss in our meeting was timing. We could start sharing the videos as soon as they're ready (January 2018?) or we could wait and condense our sharing of the story closer to the April 12 screening to generate a bit more buzz (and perhaps give the independent study research about audio descriptions more time to develop). Would waiting to share make it possible to apply the research you're doing next semester to the videos, or at least make that research project a more clear part of the articles we write? The CYC also has some Michigan Radio connections: since this collaboration is leading to some really interesting accessibility work and since Michigan Radio already covered the original collaboration for the album, I'm wondering if they might be interested in continuing to follow this story.
