As the growth of the department continued, so did the need for better fire protection and equipment. The department responded by replacing the 1956 GMC engine with a 1997 E-One Tanker/Pumper/Foam truck combination, which is the current Engine 2, more commonly known as “Big Blue”. This new apparatus became the third piece of equipment for the department at a cost of $350,000. The truck has two tanks, one 500 gallon for foam and the other, an 1800 gallon water supply. The pump is rated at 3,000 gallons per minute. Also, the truck is equipped with a 3,000 gallon per minute deck gun which is capable of dispensing foam onto a fire.
