The need for better fire protection and emergency equipment motivated the firefighters to purchase a 1976 Seagrave fire engine. This 1500 gallon per minute pumper was acquired for a cost of $71,000. The Seagrave engine had only been in service one week before it saw its first major structure fire up on Walton Road.
