St. Mary's, Georgia is a mainland site that is close to Cumberland Island, and is known as the gateway to Cumberland. The site is the location of the ferry to Cumberland Island. Many of Cumberland's 20th century workers lived in St. Mary's, and it was the site of many errands for the Carnegies. The Cumberland Museum is also located in St. Mary's, fostering a deep connection with the island. The picture to the left depicts the St. Mary's Harbor.
