Event Date: October 28–30, 2024
In its continuous pursuit of advancing expertise in applied mathematics and operations research, the Cebu Technological University–Center for Applied Mathematics and Operations Research (CTU-CAMOR) successfully concluded a three-day intensive small-group training and workshop on the Introduction to Metaheuristics Optimization from October 28–30, 2024, at One Central Hotel, Cebu City.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with foundational knowledge and practical skills in metaheuristic optimization techniques, a critical area in computational problem-solving and decision-making processes. Faculty and research affiliates engaged in interactive lectures, hands-on exercises, and collaborative problem-solving sessions designed to enhance both theoretical understanding and practical application.
Special acknowledgment is extended to Dr. Maria Gemel Palconit and Engr. Jayson Jueco, who shared their expertise and guided participants through complex optimization models and their real-world applications. The program fostered a collaborative environment, enabling participants to explore novel approaches for optimization challenges in engineering, operations research, and applied mathematics.
The successful completion of this workshop reflects CTU-CAMOR’s commitment to capacity building, knowledge sharing, and research excellence. By continuously exposing faculty, researchers, and students to emerging computational techniques, CAMOR strengthens its mission to advance applied mathematical research and innovative problem-solving in both academic and industry contexts.
