Revised Return Service Guidelines

  1. Return of Service is a service opportunity initiated by the City Scholars Office and/or Scholars Organization (either school-based or community-based) in which a currently enrolled ISDA can be intimately and closely involved within a school year. The return of service comprises activities that lead to self, others, the community, and the nation. It aims to foster self-reliance, leadership, volunteerism, and social responsibility.

  1. Return of Service is a requirement at the City Scholarship Office for the renewal of a currently enrolled scholar’s scholarship for the next semester.

  1. The Service hours should be done on a free time and voluntary basis.

  1. Each scholar from the first year to the third year is required to attend or render a minimum of five (5) activities and/or services per semester. Two (2) of which should come from the CSO-initiated activities and the rest (3) will be from the school-based and/or community-based-initiated activities and projects.

  1. While each fourth-year scholar is required to participate in all CSO-initiated programs specifically organized for them during the 2nd semester of the school year such as Life Skills Training and World of Work preparations among others. Scholars in their 4th year may attend or participate in other activities on a discretionary basis/non-compulsory terms.

  1. The excess number of activities participated by a scholar will be accumulated in the following semester within the same school year.

  1. All school-based and community-based-initiated Return of Service activity needs to be presented to CSO Programs and Formation Team for approval. All approved activities will be registered to our Admin Portal.

  1. To track attendance and participation in all Return of Service activities, each scholar needs to download their QR Code from the Official City Scholarship website. Scanning of QR codes will be required before and after each Return of Service activity whether it would be done online or face to face. The summary of attendance and participation will be accessible and can be generated through their personal account on the CSO website which will serve as a reference for the Records Team to check scholar’s compliance for Return of Service every end of the semester.

  1. The school-based and community-based scholar organization will need to appoint a beadle for Return of Service activities. They will be trained on how the scanning and registration of activities will be done in the Admin Portal.

  2. Each scholar must answer Post-Activity Evaluation Form and keep proof of attendance/participation in the activity or event like a screenshot or photos in case verification is needed.

  3. Most importantly, since the Local Government did not require a 2-year return service upon graduation of scholars under CCSP, it is encouraged that each scholar consider Return Service Program as an opportunity to give back to the communities and create lasting impact while in the scholarship.
