This project is about discussing the impact social media has on me, you, and society as a whole.
This told me I am addicted to social media, which I already knew.
The results said:
You NEED to get a grip on your social media habits! Scrolling through social media is your number one past time - you're never off the .gram, or TikTok, or Twitter or... (insert your favourite platform here). You spend an excessive amount of your day on social media, feeling that if something isn't recorded and posted on one of your accounts it didn't really happen. Sleep, eating, work, even your relationships, are all suffering as a result. Did you know that, in a famous study from Denmark, adults who spent a week off social media felt much happier with their lives? They also reported an increase in real-world social activity and were significantly less angry and lonely than those who stayed on social media. It's time to take your social media addiction seriously and embark on a digital detox.
The only social media platforms I use are YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, and sometimes Twitter (X), but barely. The funny thing is, I never cared to use TikTok, but my friends kept trying to convince me to get it, which I declined because I only needed Instagram and Pinterest at the time. I only downloaded it because I saw this really cool video where it was edited to replicate the look of the 2000s aesthetic Frutiger Metro (Example of this aesthetic to the right, bottom). When I think of Frutiger Metro, I think of the game Just Dance. Anyways, I'm mostly addicted to TikTok due to how easy it is to build your own fyp and you can choose what you want and don't want to see. It does this better than any other social media platforms imo.
Reflecting on the quiz, I already know I'm a social media addict. Although I don't post, to me, social media is a good way to get news, interact with friends, learn new information, and stay in my bubbles of things I'm interested in.
On the other hand, it does get tiring being on social media because you see every kind of person, especially the bad ones. It also acts as a distraction, but I believe I can take a break, and it's just more of a choice for me.
I chose this graph because looking at the race and gender demographics for each app is interesting. As a black girl, I'm not surprised a lot of women use Pinterest because I do as well. I also didn't think a lot of black people use Pinterest and Reddit in comparison to white people. The other stats make sense to me.
Wii menu goes home, Mario Kart is the previous page, Super Smash bros CD goes to the subpage of Unit 3, and The Zelda CD goes to the next Unit!
