I am a Latin American mathematician, born in Santiago, Chile and currently based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I am a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics of IME-USP, the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics and Computer Science at University of São Paulo.
My research focuses on Differential Geometry, specifically higher geometric structures and connections with Mathematical Physics. I lead the Higher Differential Geometry Research Group, which is part of the CNPq Research Groups Directory. Also, I am an active member of the Geometry Research Group of IME-USP. You can learn more about my research projects via the menu on the left.
My family is the most important part of my life. Together with my partner and our two children we form a truly Latin American family, combining cultural roots from Brazil, Chile and Colombia. This is my family!
Outside of my academic work, I spend my time on different activities. I enjoy very much doing sports, particularly running and cycling.
In the last years, I have been devoted to one of my greatest passions: music. I am a dedicated piano student and an active member of Sul Fiato, one of the thirteen choral groups of the University of Sao Paulo. Under the regency of Paula Monteiro, our group performs in a variety of venues and cultural centers across the city. Our 2026 project, called "Pelo Mundo", focuses on an eclectic repertoire, a cappella or with piano and percussion, consisting of classical, folk and popular works from Latin America, Africa and Europe. This follows our 2025 project "Música das Américas" which celebrated the rich musical tradition of countries such as: Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, among others. This is our group!
