Summer Reading Challenge

This year we’ve decided to make your summer reading a little more fun with Sonlight's printable Summer Reading Kit. It’s filled with reading activities that’ll keep your child engaged with books all summer long.  Every child who participates in the Summer Reading Challenge will receive a free t-shirt from Sonlight and a chance to win a coupon for $50 off any Sonlight purchase.

• Print one of the Book Trackers found on pages 7-16 of the Summer Reading Challenge Kit.

• Use your Book Tracker to keep a record of all the books your child reads this summer!

• Take a photo of your child’s completed Book Tracker and email the photo to Sonlight at submissions@sonlight.com by August 31, 2024.  If entering for multiple children, please send a separate email for each child’s entry.

• Copy summer@crecschool.org on the email and your child will also earn a prize from CREC!

Print out this year's Summer Reading Challenge and start reading today!  Submit a picture of the completed log to CREC and H•E•Buddy® to redeem prizes.

Thank you to all of the families who have already submitted their reading logs for our Summer Reading Challenge!  If your child wants to read more, he or she can continue to fill in the reading log and redeem all of the prizes at one time.

Please encourage your child to read at least 15-20 minutes a day for beginning readers and at least 30 minutes a day for advanced readers.   Also, don't forget to monitor your child's reading level by looking up Book Levels (BL) at https://www.arbookfind.com/.

Lastly, to celebrate students' reading progress, we will be giving out fabulous Summer Reading Challenge PRIZES to everyone who participates.  We hope that this year's challenge will help to inspire all of our students to become lifelong readers and learners!
