In this unit you will focus on the narrative genre, specifically short stories. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the oral and written traditions of storytelling. You will learn about the distinctive features of narrative, including plot, character/s, setting, theme and style (voice/POV). You will investigate ways to improve short stories through characterisation and descriptive detail. Short stories often have only one or two main characters, with the action usually taking place in a single setting over a short period of time.
