The University School in the Heart of East London.

At St Paul’s Way Trust we expect each of our graduates to be fully prepared for the opportunities and the demands of the adult world. During each child’s school career, we place strong emphasis on six key areas: Communication, Investigation, Networking, Participation, Scholarship and Vision. It is because students learn to excel in these areas that they gain the confidence to become successful global citizens.

The art team consists of five members of staff, who teach in a visually stunning department, with multi-purpose studios, which provide a stimulating, inspiring and creative environment, where students can enjoy learning, develop confidence and reach their full potential through creative expression.

Students have the opportunity to work in a range of disciplines, exploring painting mediums, mixed media textiles, printmaking, 3-D techniques, photographic and digital media art forms. Artist in residence projects and links with galleries as well as extra-curricular opportunities allow students to develop and refine their interests.

We pride ourselves on connecting and sustaining strong links with art institutions- organisations/ universities/ galleries locally and across London.

We have collaborated on many successful art projects over the years and believe it is essential to give students the opportunity to engage with live projects.

World Earth Day - Paint the Change

Paint the Change is a global street art project for social justice. They believe that public art can play a powerful role in stimulating discussions around urgent social issues. ‘A mural is not just a work of art: it becomes a social and digital event and a focus for dialogue and progress’.

World Earth Day is a chance to cherish and celebrate our ecosystem, our fauna and flora. They are vital to our planet and to us humans. They are also filled with beauty. We have reached a critical point and it’s time to act, it’s time to change.

In Spring 2021, Paint the Change together with a street artist ATMA, worked with local schools and communities on the World Earth Day project. The project culminated in creation of a mural celebrating life on our planet as well as a poster which incorporated hundreds of artwork designed by students.

Paint the Change worked with six schools across London – Barnes Primary, Ben Johnson School, Canary Wharf School, Oakland School and St Paul’s Way Trust School – and Instagram supporters on Our Earth: A Fragile Paradise.

The design was composed by street artist ATMA who received more than 350 drawings of plants and animals from the school pupils and Instagram audience – each one representing the flora or fauna that participants felt was an essential part of our global ecosystem. Posters of the design will be installed in each school. @paintthechangeglobal @atmastudio #paintthechangeglobal #climatechange #WorldEarthDay #atmastudios.
