THAT network London in partnership with UAL is pleased to present a creative drawing and printing CPD weekend at the Brady Centre.



CPD: Walk & Draw and Screen & Heat Press printing


Teachers will have the opportunity to refresh their practice and explore a range of personal creative disruptions through a range of drawing and printing methods over the course of one or two days.

Dates of the workshop:


Day 1 - workshop 1: walk & draw; workshop 2: screen & heat press printing

  • Sat 26th June - 11-5.30pm Arrival/registration 10.45


Day 2 - repeated but it will also be used for those that attend day 1 to continue and refine printing ideas in the studio

  • Autumn term - date tbc - 11-5.30pm Arrival/registration 10.45

Times:

Arrival/registration: 10.45-10.55am

Workshop start time: 11am-1.30pm

Lunch: 1.30-2.15pm

Workshop start time: 2.15-4.45pm

Clear up/networking/leave: between 4.45-5.30pm

Walk and Draw


Local urban drawing around Brick Lane including the Brady Centre Garden



  • drawing using a concertina book and various drawing media.


  • a variety of quick sketches using different media: graphite pencil, black pen & brush pen will be explored. These will be developed into longer drawings.


  • opportunity to develop drawings into mono prints, monotypes (and heat transfer printing in the afternoon workshop).

Workshop 2: PM

Screen Printing & Heat transfer Press Printing


Using drawings from the morning session, teachers will be introduced to a range of screen printing and heat press printing techniques and processes. Teachers in the session will:

  • Continue to develop drawings completed in the morning session looking at the theme of urban.

  • transform these landscapes into print methods exploring scale, positive and negative spaces, and linear form and shapes.

  • Focus on experimentation using paper cut stencils for both screen printing and heat transfer printing techniques.

  • learn about colour mixing and embellishment processes to create interesting and stimulating effects.

  • Covid rules are in place at the Brady Centre and are reviewed in line with the Government's rules. Currently we can book 10 teachers per workshop per day.
