The proposed development will be a new extension to the already highly successful town of Cranbrook. Our vision is to bring forward a community that will provide all the key features of a modern new town which will have its own distinct identity in the East Devon countryside.
Cranbrook Cobdens will be a place that further supports a healthy and vibrant lifestyle in the new community of Cranbrook. The development will be defined by a series of walkable and cycle friendly character areas which will be connected by the central spine road (MLR) culminating on London Road where there will be access to services and facilities. A new three-form entry Primary School and Special Educational Needs School will sit within a neighbourhood centre with a mix of uses and will be at the heart of this new community. It will be a place where residents will want to walk and cycle as well as the benefit of a high quality public transport service into Exeter, Honiton and many other towns and villages in East Devon and beyond.
Cranbrook is a new community in East Devon close to the city of Exeter. It is now seeing development at a rapid rate and is a key scheme within the "West End" of East Devon. Cranbrook is in close proximity to employment developments such as SkyPark and the regional distribution centres of Lidl and Amazon in Clyst Hontion. Links to Exeter by road and rail, walking and cycling links, including into the surrounding countryside and the new Clyst Valley Regional Park, are all part of the appeal of Cranbrook.
Cranbrook currently has two education facilities, the St Martin's C of E Primary and Nursery School and the Cranbrook Education Campus Through School. The development of Cranbrook Cobdens will provide an additional Primary School and Special Educational Needs School to complement the existing facilities found in Cranbrook.
The existing Local Centre in the West of Cranbrook provides a number of shops, takeaways and a Community Centre. In addition to the development of Cranbrook Town Centre which will be the retail focus for the Town, the Cranbrook Urban Extension also provides a Local Centre to service the needs of residents living in the east of Cranbrook.
The "Country Park" in Cranbrook hosts a free 2km junior parkrun every Sunday at 9am. The first event was held on 28th April 2019 and up to 15th March 2020, a total of 442 runners aged 4-14 had completed the event at least once. The weekly event, organised by volunteers, is currently postponed due to the COVID-19 regulations.
