VDH is investigating a confirmed measles case in the Northern Region of Virginia.
The patient is a resident of another state who traveled through Washington Dulles International Airport Saturday, January 24. Health officials are coordinating an effort to identify people who might have been exposed.
Most people in Virginia have immunity to measles through vaccination, so the risk to the general public is low.

There has been a recent increase in visits to emergency departments and urgent care facilities related to hypothermia and cold exposure in Virginia.
As temperatures continue to remain below freezing, we encourage everyone to take precautions when going outside:
✅Wear several layers of loose-fitting clothing
✅Wear water-resistant boots and coat
✅Keep your hands and head covered
✅Avoid getting wet, and change into dry clothes as soon as possible
